Clean Bone Marrow!
The results from last Thursday's bone marrow biopsy brought the words we've been waiting for-- "your bone marrow is clean." After only two cycles of SL401, there is no trace of BPDCN cells in my bone marrow!
What does this mean? First and foremost, we are doing a happy dance this week. Secondly, this unfortunately does not mean that I am cured. Without a transplant, the cancer will almost certainly relapse. The goal, however, is for BPDCN to be at its lowest presentation possible prior to transplant. Having clean bone marrow is therefore HUGE news.
I will continue SL401 treatments until transplant to maintain the status quo with my bone marrow and to target the two remaining tumors in my skin. Pre-transplant radiation and chemo should eliminate those spots if they continue to linger. Transplant details remain up in the air, but as they become more firm I will pass them along.
For now, please dance with us!
